The hawthorn whitens


From the moist meadow to the withered hill. 
Led by the breeze, the vivid verdure runs ; 
And swells, and deepens, to the cherish’d eye. 
The hawthorn whitens ; and the juicy groves 
Put forth their buds, unfolding by degrees
