Wednesday Photo(s): Cambridge at night—channelling Josef Sudek
At the moment, I’m deeply immersed in Czech(slovak) culture and history because I’m in the midst of a project to the Czech Unitarian, Norbert Fabián Čapek’s 1939 book, “To the Sunny Shore: A Guide to Living Joyfully” (K slunnému brehu: Prúvodce do radostného Zivota).
Apart from serving to send me back to listen again to lots of music by Antonín Dvořák, my work also sent me back to the wonderful photographs of Josef Sudek. This latter delight set me wondering if I could produce a JPEG recipe for my Fujifilm X100V that would get somewhat close to the photographs taken by Sudek that I most admire? I’ll leave you to decide whether I have achieved that to any degree, but however you answer that, I have enjoyed shooting with this recipe whilst walking to and fro some recent evening meetings here in an increasingly wintry Cambridge.
In case you like the general look too, here’s the recipe. Happy walking and shooting!
