Contrasting Cambridge scenes and an unusual juxtaposition

This morning I had to drop off a hire car after playing a gig last night and, whilst walking back by the river and across Midsummer Common and along North Terrace, I took a few shots which I paste below for your enjoyment. Which one of the them is the unusual juxtaposition will be, I'm sure, self-evident! All taken with my Ricoch GR. Just click on a photo to enlarge it.
